Denis Goldberg receives the Freedom of the City of London
Denis Goldberg was trialed and sentenced in 1964 by South Africa as “South Africa’s most dangerous white man” due to his engagement along Nelson Mandela against the Apartheid policy.
Raised in a communist family, he was aware very early of injustice and wondered on the oddity of the South African political system: a questioning that led him to follow a militant life against racism and racial discriminations.
Today, along Ahmed Kathrada (also imprisoned) and Lord Joel Joffe and George Bizos, the lawyers who defended them during the Rivonia Trial in 1963-1964, he is honored with the Freedom of the City of London for his commitment. At this occasion, he shared his experience of a lifetime fighting racism in South Africa.

"Il devient absolument urgent de mettre un terme à cette injustice. Il y a un manque de connaissances et de recherches. Il faut donc promouvoir le recueil de témoignages, mais aussi construire des mémoriaux, organiser des expositions..." - @BenjaminAbtan
