The second round of French regional elections gave citizens the chance to express a saving surge against the danger of the far-right National Front Party, which won in 6 regions out of 13 on December 6th during the elections’ first round.
In a country deeply attached to democratic freedom and the logic of equality, the result shows once again that France refuses to surrender itself to a party of hatred and dictatorship such as that of the National Front.
However, a few important concerns remain. The score of the National Front demonstrates a rise in racism and the logic of scapegoating, whereas massive abstention, notably in popular districts and among young people, denotes a rupture between citizens and political parties.
