EU interior ministers gather today in Amsterdam (Netherlands) for a meeting discussing the refugee crisis. Donald Tusk’s warned that the Schengen Agreement could break apart if a migrant strategy isn’t sorted out in the next two months.
The migrant crisis goes on for the European countries divided on this topic, including difficulties to manage the refugees already distributed in Europe and the continuous arrivals on the EU borders, mainly by sea and as Greek authorities struggle to contain these crossing by boats.
Certain figures show that more than 2000 people arrive daily.
In this context, as Europe seeks to ensure its border’s safety, implying measures such as migrant’s retention and identities controls, protesters have taken to the water in a boat crammed with life vest wearing mannequins to be displayed in Amsterdam.
This intends to remind decision makers that real humans, often desperate, attempt these deadly journeys towards EU borders.
