Regional Elections in France: Doing Everything to Prevent the Victory of Hatred
The results of the 1st round of the regional elections in France show a terrible political crisis in our country.
The important gains of the National Front suggest that, if nothing is done, this political party, whose matrix are hatred and the rejection of democratic values, could be called as to lead several regions. The dynamics it could create for the 2017 presidential elections should not be neglected.
That is why the main lists of the Republicans and the Socialist Party have to resolve amongst themselves, where it is possible, to delist for the benefit of the list able to block the National Front. Leaving those regions to the National Front means to leave the open door of hatred for the future presidential elections and as a consequence, endangering the democracy and its values. But despite the responsibilities of the media and political personalities, the vote is, first and foremost, the one of the voters, among whom two problematic attitudes dominate: abstention and the “Front National.”
The progression of the National Front should lead citizens to question their own views and behaviour. In the weeks following the terrorist attacks, whose goal was to instill the seeds of the civil war in our country, is it right to confine ourselves to a vote that would turn the dream of our societies enemies into a reality?
