From March 16th to 18th 2017, for the second time EGAM was honoured to host Sarajevo Sur Seine Film Festival, which brought viewers, directors, and activists from across Europe together to celebrate and support creative and revolutionary Balkans documentarians. We would like to thank to our friends at Sarajevo Film Festival, who made it possible for us to show some of the most prominent human-rights centred films of the year and to host the brilliant directors behind them.
This year`s selection has offered to the spectators the movies with the focus going way beyond Balkans context, such as exploring the foundations of the religious extremism in Pakistan (“Among the believers”) or overcoming the prejudices, poverty and political turmoil in the East of Turkey through sport (“Baglar”).
EGAM would like to give a massive thank you to the Head of Documentary Competition Programme of the Sarajevo Film Festival, Rada Sesic who watched over the course of the event as well as the directors who joined us for the festival to give us more insight into their movies and to conduct video making workshops, namely Berke Baş and Melis Birder (“Baglar”), Siniša Vidović (“Korida”) and Lidija Zelović (“My own private war”).
Last but not least we would like to thank all the partners and sponsors who supported us in very many ways: YIHR of Bosnia & Herzegovina, SOS Racisme, Mairie de Paris, DILCRAH, European Youth Foundation, Europe for Citizens, Robert Bosch Foundation, Ministère des Affaires étrangères et du Développement international, Commissariat général à l’égalité des territoires and the host of most of our projections Cinema Étoile.
We hope to see you next year and offer as brilliant movies as in the past editions!
